Ann (Cielesz) Kretschmer, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Franklin, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin C. Kretschmer in 1997 and an infant daughter. Born 1/31/1927 in North Chicago, she was the youngest child of Mary and Andrew Cielesz, who predeceased her, as did her six brothers and two dear sisters Victoria (Frank) Macknick and Bernice (Gaspar) Belmonte.Ann attended North Elementary and Holy Rosary School in North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan Township HS in 1945. She took on the role as 'Class Detective' for many class reunions over the years.Her first job was with Cyclone Fence Co. where she met Al. They married Sept. 17, 1949 and raised five boys in Waukegan, IL. She took on many responsibilities with Immaculate Conception Church and School in Waukegan. Later on, Joliet, IL became their home where Ann worked for Sugar Creek Pharmacy for many years. Ann lived during a time of great historical changes in our nation and had many stories to prove it. Favorite hobbies included watching golf, playing cards , reading the comics and telling riddles. Fondly known as the 'Riddle Lady' to the Joliet neighborhood children. Survived by five sons; Gregory (Myra) Zion, IL, James of San Tan Valley, AZ, Brian (Dee) Twin Lakes, WI, Alan (Kathy Hillery) Parsippany, NJ and Roger (Dianna) Henderson, NV.She is a great-great grandma starting with 3 grandchildren June Ann, Ryan, and Nicholas, 4 step-grandchildren Erin, Renee, Amy and Christopher, 10 great grands and 1 great-great grandchild. Ann is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Our thanks to the special caretakers at Azura Memory Care in Oak Creek, WI and Cindy Briggs, her personal caretaker for many years. Ann's wit and charm was unique, but will be remembered by many forever!A Committal service will be held at Ascension Cemetery Chapel in Libertyville, IL on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
