Audrey Winifred Simon (nee Gerloff) January 5, 1927 - June 5, 2025
Audrey W. Simon, daughter of Erwin and Clara (Siewert) Gerloff. Audrey attended the Trinity Lutheran Church in West Allis. She graduated from West Allis Central High School. She enjoyed riding her bicycle, swimming, playing cards, cribbage and reminiscing with friends and relatives. She volunteered her services at Woods Hospital.
Audrey and her husband, Alvin E. Simon, ran the Black Duck Inn, in Muskego. Later they purchased Hunter's Nest in Muskego, on Big Muskego Lake. After leaving the tavern, she resided with her son, Gregory (Paulette) Simon, helping to raise her grandsons while the parents worked.
She worked at Rupena's for 32 years. During this time she moved in with her mother to help care for her, until her passing. While living with her mother in the apartment complex, which was owned by her brother, Roy (Judy) Gerloff, she fully utilized the indoor swimming pool. In September 2000, she entered the Senior Olympics at the YMCA and placed with gold a and silver medal in swimming, which she was very proud of.
Audrey loved following the Kids of Wisconsin and collected all of their pins. After her daughter Charlotte retired, she spent a lot of time with her mother taking her to the State Fair, South Shore Water Frolics, grocery shopping and out to eat.
She always loved to play bingo and she won a lot. While residing at Linden Grove New Berlin she acquired a great friendship with her roommate Cindy. They became best friends having wheel chair races down the hallways of the facility.
Audrey was an awesome mother and mother-in-law.
Audrey is survived by her daughters Donna Nattinger, Charlotte Rossi, son Gregory (Paulette) Simon and brother Roy (Judy) Gerloff. Audrey has five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was greatly loved by her nieces and nephew.
Audrey was preceded in death by her ex-husband Alvin E Simon, her grandson Brett Nattinger, her brother Norman and his wife Betty Gerloff and her best friend Dorothy Perkl, who was also 98 years old and passed the week before Audrey passed.
