Barbara Joan Raasch nee KalupaApril 25, 1934 – November 5, 2018Barbara J. Kalupa, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018 with family by her side. She was born in Milwaukee to Joseph and Mildred Kalupa (Jones). She was Treasurer of the Philomathea Club and First VP of the Latin Club at Washington High School, from which she graduated in 1952. She married Roger Raasch on March 25, 1955; they were married for 63 years.Barbara was a receptionist, insurance secretary and setup corporate apartments. She volunteered a lot, working for the Respite Center at Summerfest, Interfaith, Meals on Wheels, numerous cat shelters, The Clearing in Door County and as an usher at the Riverside and Pabst Theaters. She was a certified Master Naturalist for Milwaukee County Parks Department, and an active member of the Wisconsin Go Hiking Club for many years. Barb loved bobbing and floating in the pool, either doing aquatic exercise class, or chatting with anyone in the area. She was an avid player in bridge club and enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch at Culver's.No rummage sale was safe while Barb was driving, she was an enthusiastic rummager, convinced that the next lovable quirky treasure was out there, she just had to keep searching!Barbara adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lovingly crocheting blankets and scarves for them and cherishing every joyous moment spent together.Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and survived by her four children, David Raasch (Christine), Dean Raasch (Ann), Jennifer Raash (Jeff), Julia Ubert (Steve) and seven grandchildren plus two great grandchildren and all her loving friends and family.A private interment ceremony will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. To honor Barbara's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at 11:30, with lunch served at 12 noon, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Meyer's Restaurant, 4260 S 76th St, Greenfield, WI. Many heartfelt thanks go out to Aurora at Home Hospice and Home Instead Caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary at bestfriends.org.
