Obituary

Bernice B. Dettlaff (nee Blattner), age 93, passed away April 2nd, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Dettlaff and is survived by her children: Karen (John) Lewis, Jane (Phil) Knob, Bob (Diane) Dettlaff, Mary (Timothy) Zidek, her grandchildren: Christopher (Maggie), Brandon (Amanda), Dan Lewis, Sarah, Stephen, Joseph (Amy), Miryam, Thomas (Elizabeth), Sharon, Susanna Knob, Colin (Megan), Kevin, John, Michael Dettlaff, Charlie, Augie (Liz), Teresa, William Zidek, and her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Paul, Clara, Hannah, Levi Lewis, Andrew, James, Luke, Claire, Henry and Wesley Knob. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Bernice was born in Milwaukee to Phillip and Elizabeth Blattner and was the 11th of 13 children. She always told stories of a happy childhood growing up during the depression with her 6 brothers: Len, Ray, Mo, Jack, Moco, Bob, and her 6 sisters: Betty, Mary, Helen, Lorraine, Dorothy and Ellie. She graduated from Pulaski High School and worked various jobs before marrying and raising her family. She instilled her love of family, faith and card playing (especially Bridge and Sheepshead) in her children and grandchildren who carry on the traditions today.

Visitation will be on Friday May 26th 2023, at 10:00 at St. Martin of Tours, Franklin Wi, followed by 11:00 Mass and burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.komen.org), or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://www.jdrf.org).
