Betty Jean Gorder (nee Higgins)Age 88.  Born to Eternal Life May 23rd, 2016.  Loving wife of Wesley J. Gorder for 65 years.  He preceded her in death in 2013.  Dear mother of Daniel (Sandra), Deborah (Peter) Niesen, and Rebecca (Jerome) Campbell; grandmother to Eric (Tanya) Gorder, Erin (Craig) Stampfl, David (Dione) Niesen, James (Kelly) Niesen, Elizabeth (Ryan) Adomavich, Samuel (Kristin) Arnold, and Gregory (Jennifer) Arnold; great-grandmother to Kamryn, Emma, Tyler, Sammy Jo, Samantha, Mackenzie, Alex, Leah, Madelyn, Johanna, and Addison.  Survived by many other relatives and friends.  Betty was also preceded in death by her son James.  Betty found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, (and sometimes even her own children).  She would take advantage of any opportunity to hold or play with a baby. Betty was also an animal lover.  She and her husband Wes had dogs most of their married life.  There was a soft spot in her heart for them. During her working career, she was a medical receptionist for a doctor.  It was a two person office and she managed quite well there. Betty wasn't as outgoing as Wes, but, he prompted her into getting out and doing things.  She helped him when they did taxes for "the elderly"; they were active in Young at Heart; and helped with the church festival.  They traveled often with friends and had many family vacations.  Some were lavish, some not so lavish; and the kids were always with them; they were never excluded from anything.  She enjoyed being around her family.  She truly treasured these moments, even if the day left her exhausted. Her kids will always remember her as a spunky Irish woman who spoke her mind (when necessary).  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her as a loving grandma!Special thanks to Elder Care Cottages, Waterford, for caring for Betty these past two years, and Allay Hospice for caring for her during her last days.Visitation Friday, June 10th, 9:30 to 10:15 AM, St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners.  Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, with inurnment to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or to St. Mary Parish.
