Obituary

Charles Thomas Klusman, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 6th, 2018 at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice Center.Charles was born September 26, 1944, in Milwaukee to Harold Klusman and Agnes Daniel. He was the third child and sibling to(in order): Sandra Terski (Alan), Harold Klusman Jr., Kristi Acker (Tony). Charles graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in 1965. While attending the school, Charles was an accomplished athlete playing basketball and football. During his football career as a Tackle, Charles was named Defensive Player of the Year from 1959-1962, All-American Second Teams in 1963, Hall of Fame Inductee for being a key member of the 1961 Dairyland Conference Championship Team in 2006, and lastly, Hall of Fame inductee for the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in 2014. Charles had various jobs, but his dedication to Superior Die Set Corporation gave way to more than 25 years of service and eventually retiring from a place he took pride in working for. Along with his service to Superior Die Set, he was a 25 year veteran to the International Assoc. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge No. 78. His interests included hunting, fishing, watching Nascar, cheering for the Badgers, Packers, and the Chicago Cubs, playing poker with friends, volunteering for the yearly deaf pinic events and simply hanging out at the Deaf Club being a member of the Greater Milwaukee Association of the Deaf. Charles was a member to various organizations surrounding the Deaf Club and community. For instance, he was proud member of Wisconsin Deaf Anglers for 20 years. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA.With his many hobbies, Charles always found time to be a devoted Grandpa to his grandkids : Izabella Klusman, Ian Klusman, Soleil N. Quiles, Yohannes M. Quiles II, and Israel L. Quiles. He was not only Grandpa to his own grandkids but he was Grandpa to all the kids that would visit our home; driving them all to school and various activities. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of the Deaf.Charles Klusman is survived by his sister, Sandra Terski (Alan); daughter, Chasity E. Quiles (Yohannes, Sr.); son, Chad M. Klusman; and 5 grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM, Tuesday, September 11th, Hartson Funeral Home, 11111 W Janesville Rd, Hales Corners, WI 53130, with a service at 5PM. On Tuesday evening (September 11th), following the service at the funeral home, everyone will be welcomed to join in continuing the celebration of Charles' life at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of the Deaf located at 2306 S 98th St., Milwaukee, WI 53227.
