Charles L. Stein, "Charlie" age 89, passed away peacefully at Tudor Oaks Retirement Community, Muskego, Wisconsin surrounded by his family. He was born April 18th, 1927 to Charles and Erma Stein in Peru, Illinois and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin. Charlie was a loving family man in every way. His wife and children were the center of his long and blessed life. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Rhiannon and Dane, Dan and Sara, and Nathan and dearly loved by great-grandchildren Jaydon and Cami, Levi, and Freya. Charlie honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Business College in Rockford, Illinois where he met the love of his life, Velma Weidman. They began their 64 years of marriage in 1952. Charlie enjoyed the friendships garnered as he traveled throughout the midwest for Shell Oil Company as a regional marketing manager. Charlie retired in 1987 with numerous honors and awards from the company. Long summer camping vacations to numerous western national parks was a highlight for the family, creating a lifetime of fond memories. Charlie and Velma spent their retirement years wintering in Naples, Florida and summers at their beloved home in South Haven on the shores of Lake Michigan. Charlie will best be remembered for his smile and gentle manner, humorous one-liners with occasional prat falls, and the lovely notes of his nightly interpretations of Ella Fitzgerald tunes on his piano. Charlie is survived by his wife Velma, children Rick (Carole) Stein, Libby McDonald (Mark) grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a very loving extended family and numerous life-long friends whom he cherished and who cherished him.Expressions of sympathy can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at Visitation will be held at Tudor Oaks Retirement Community in the Olive Wood Theater, S77 W12929 McShane Dr. Muskego, WI on Friday November 4, 2016 from 1-3 PM.
