Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan. Dale was born in Ontario, Canada and received all of his education there. He also played his youth and junior hockey in Canada. He moved to Milwaukee in 1966 with his family and was employed as a lineman for Pieper Power electric company. The family moved to Greenfield a year later, and that is where they lived until the mid-1980's. All four of his children graduated from Greenfield High School. Growing up he was very involved in baseball, basketball, and football, but hockey was his first love. When Wilson Park Indoor Ice rink opened in 1970, he became very involved in hockey in Milwaukee, coaching youth hockey (SHAW) and also was the director of Officials for several years. He also continued to play hockey himself, first for the Milwaukee Wings, and then for the Milwaukee Admirals. He retired from active playing with the Admirals in 1973 where he was third on the all-time Admiral scoring list. He was named assistant coach for the Admirals in 1973, and he continued coaching youth hockey and playing for the Milwaukee Wings until employment took him out of state. He moved out West to Wyoming and Oregon in the 1980's for employment and retired from Pacific Power in 2001, returning to Milwaukee to be near family. Dale was king of the 'one-liners" and always enjoyed the Packers, Brewers, and Toronto Maple Leafs, a good joke, and playing cribbage.
