Obituary

Dan Hendricks , age 63, went peacefully to heaven on Friday, January 28, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Kathleen (nee Foster) Hendricks, his sister Roberta Hendricks, and brother Alan Hendricks.

Survived by his wife, Kari (nee Andrews) Hendricks, son Tim Andrews, sister Vickie (John) Robertson, brother David Hendricks, sister in law Deb (Alan) Hendricks, and nieces and nephews.

Born April 16, 1958 in Sparta, WI to Lee and Katie, Dan was an introspective child, leading his brother to nickname him Blue, who loved to commune with nature. He became an avid hunter, fisherman, and conservationist, taking every opportunity to be in the woods or on the lake. His passion led him to teach others about the outdoor lifestyle, especially teaching youth hunter safety classes. He loved speed – horses, motorcycles, cars, snowmobiles, dirt bikes – and loved to share those adventures with his friends. He even took flying lessons to become a pilot. Dan served in the US Army, stationed in Korea, after high school but spent much of his life as a dairy farmer, truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He took pride caring for his animals with love to give them their best life, and in the fact that he could operate any machinery with ease and precision.

Dan was blessed to marry the love of his life, Kari, in 2018 and they spent 4 glorious years living their lives to the fullest. He was a man of great faith whose mantra was "blessed to be a blessing" and who was the very epitome of Matthew 6:3. God and family, faith and love, learning and growing, and humility and generosity were what made Dan such a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, and uncle. While he will be missed, we are all better for having had our lives touched by his.

Please no flowers, but plants (no lilies) are acceptable. Rather than flowers or plants, please make a donation in Dan's name to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Camps for Kids https://www.greatermilwaukeefoundation.org/donors/give-online/give-camp-kids-fund/ This organization supports Dan's passion to help children learn to love the outdoors. Established in 1994, the mission of Camps for Kids is to provide life changing camp experiences for children in Milwaukee County. Camps for Kids was developed to send urban children to camp for the first time. Camps for Kids offers a unique opportunity to youth ages 8-15 to attend an overnight, residential camp in Wisconsin, participate in exciting camping activities, and have a chance to meet new friends and learn in a safe environment. Often times following the camp experience, the child and their family connect with a new agency for services that last longer than just the week at camp. For additional information about Camps for Kids, please visit their website.
