Obituary

Born February 10, 1943 and passed away in his New Berlin home on August 27th at the age of 81.

As a child growing up in Racine, Daryl spent much time with his grandparents where he often shared many fond memories. Daryl served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he was a combat engineer. After the service he installed swimming pools, worked for a construction company for electrical services until he had an electrical accident.

He then learned to be a painter and opened his own Pittsburgh Paint store. He took great pride in all the homes and offices he painted and wallpapered throughout his career. Daryl had a nickname "Drunken Painter" and was well known for his specialty drink "Apple Pie" and enjoyed company to have a taste with him. Daryl had many sayings he lived by and had a positive look on life as well as a soft heart for animals, feeding his birds and spoiling his dog Webie.

In 1965 he married a Scottish lassie, Edith who was the love of his life until her passing in 2018. They enjoyed time with family and friends in their New Berlin home.

Survived by his sister-in-law Amelia Campbell, nephews David (Janet) Meh, Colin (Diane) Campbell and nieces, Rhonda Meh, Brenda (David) Wegner, Carla (Daniel) Alt, siblings Randy (Maria) Dyhr, Cory J. Hoffmann, Earl B. 'Skip' (Virgeen) Carlson and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents Leon Dyhr and Carlotta Carlson and stepfather Earl Carlson, brothers Dennis and Kenny and sister Sandra Geiger, brother-in law and sister-in-law Martin and Hazel Meh.

A special thanks to friends, Mike Cody, Steve Peterson, Tommy Peterson, and Barb and Geno Pieszak as well as neighbors Sharon and Dan Kolinski, Colette and Neil Massey, John and Sharon Anderson who helped Daryl when needed.

The family will have private funeral services and ceremonies to celebrate his life. He will always hold a special place in our hearts and memories.
