Daryl retired in 1995, residing in Greenfield, WI and spending his winters in Tucson, AZ. In 2004 Daryl moved into the Hales Corners Lutheran Retirement Community, Steeple View, where he has been active in many activities. His retirement has been a full one, taking grandchildren on adventures in their younger years. His love of history took him into genealogy studies of his family, and of Joanna and Bonnie’s families as well. Family camping was a big deal, often coupling camping with genealogy visits. In retirement, he also found time for travels to Germany, Norway, Ireland, Nova Scotia, and England. In 1979, he and his father Alfred travelled to Berlin both East and West Berlin, and even visiting the birthplace of the Wunrow’s in Gross Niendorf, Mecklenburg, East Germany and spending four days behind the Iron Curtain. His ancestry.com combined tree includes ten thousand relatives along with hundreds of stories and photos. He was an active member and cultural director, of the Fosselyngen Lodge Sons of Norway in Milwaukee.
