David Gilkay, age 81, peacefully departed this world on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on December 6, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David was the beloved son of the late Myron and Ruth Gilkay. David was preceded in death by his brother, Myron. He leaves behind a sister, Susan and brother, Robin along with his devoted wife, Mary. David was a dependable son, sibling and spouse as well as a proud and loving father and grandfather.


David dedicated a portion of his life to serving his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he built a career as a skilled machinist, a profession he approached with dedication and a strong work ethic.


Outside of his professional life, David found joy in time spent sitting by the pool, basking in the sun, as well as annual trips to Las Vegas with Mary. He enjoyed visits from his son, Jay and grandsons at his home. These moments will undoubtedly be cherished memories for his loved ones.


The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and understanding staff at Complete Care Hales Corners, whose support and kindness brought comfort during this difficult time.


David Gilkay will be remembered for his service to his country, devotion to his wife, and his one of a kind spirit that touched the lives of all he came in contact with. His memory will forever remain a source of comfort for his family and to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
