David (Eight Eagles) Granados Sr., 74, passed on and into the Spirit World peacefully from the comfort of his home on January 5th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents: Guadalupe Granados, Luz (Torres) Granados and his nephews Artie and David Rivera.
David was the baby brother and is survived by his sisters: Julie (John) Guerra, Lucy (Tony) Borrego, Irma Rivera, Margarita (Lorenzo) Cruz. David is also survived by his children: Raquel and David (Lillian) Granados who made him a proud Grandfather of five: Forrest Ambrosini, Adrianna Rivera, Kimberly Stevens, Warren and Anthony Granados.
David was born May 12th, 1947 and raised in El Paso, TX. He joined the Air Force just out of high school where he was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii. This is where he started his lifelong passion for volunteer & humanity work. He was a businessman, entrepreneur, mentor, teacher, writer, poet, horticulturist (gardener), traveler and animal lover. He had an open-door policy and would diligently help those in need.
David discovered his Native American heritage later in life which he actively explored and practiced daily. He and his family are descendants of the Tigua Tribe from El Paso, TX. David was given the name Eight Eagles through traditional ceremony, and it referenced how he was meant to soar high.
David was never afraid to take risks, talk to strangers, and empower the ones around him. He conquered stage 4 cancer, twice. He was a fighter and didn't allow his health issues to drag him down, stop him from traveling or holding his ceremonies. His positivity shined through and he encouraged the same in others.
"Be the light"
David's light will continue to shine and live through his children, grandchildren, and every person who was fortunate to have experienced his light through his teachings and existence. David's spirit is a strong one, one that will endure through the lives of others.
Due to the country's current health conditions and concerns, we plan to have a formal service later this year and will be determined as we see appropriate. If you can, please light a candle in David's honor. This was a practice that he would always do when a friend or family member started their journey into the Spirit World.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree or some type of plant in David's honor.
