Obituary
David Rellis Kottke, 75, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Heritage Senior Living in New Berlin. After suffering from brain cancer, he is now at peace.
David was born on May 9, 1946 in Oshkosh, son of the late Rellis and Jane (Lightfuss) Kottke. His father built a house in Cambridge, WI in 1960 where David went to high school. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, golfing, playing the trumpet in the school marching band and spending time on his grandparents' farm in Weyauwega. After high school, he earned his Bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater. He worked most of his career as an Accountant at Weyco Group, a distributor of men's shoes; retiring in 2013.
On October 20, 1974 he married Phyllis Radke in Oconomowoc. They built a home and have resided in Muskego for 46 years and were blessed with 2 children. Previously his hobbies included putting together models of classic cars and model railroading. For several years he played in the hand bell choir at Atonement Lutheran Church. They rescued a bichon poodle named Sandy in 2014 and spent their summers following the Doo Wop Daddies at local festivals. He also made sure to watch lots of football and baseball. Since before his retirement, his main hobby was building & selling elaborate dollhouses. They have been gone to people of all ages and not only to those residing locally, but also as far away as California and Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; 2 children, a daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Bykowski, New Berlin, and a son, Michael (Melissa), North Prairie; 1 granddaughter, Rylee and a soon-to-be granddaughter, Kynslee (March 2022). He is also survived by his sister, Susan (Ward) Dittmar, German Valley, IL.
Visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow at Atonement Lutheran Church, S70 W16244 Martin Dr., Muskego, Wisconsin on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Gathering after at Matty's Bar & Grill, College Ave., New Berlin.
