Delbert William GruenAge 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, on the same date as his & beloved wife Eileen's 70th Wedding Anniversary. In addition to wife Eileen, survivors include his loving daughter & son-in-law, Linda & John Eggert; and son, Dale Gruen. Del will be greatly missed by, and he always enjoyed talking with, his three grandchildren, their spouses and one great-grandchild: Chad Appleby (Grandpa nicknamed him "Money Maker"), wife Michelle & their daughter Malia ("Rascal"); Ryan Appleby ("Mountain Man") & wife Bibiana; and Julie (Eggert) Moe ("Sunshine") & husband Alan. Del is also survived by other dear relatives/friends & their families including: "Adopted" daughter Catherine Gottheardt; Marian Sowle; Donna & Jim Fiedler; Sherrie & Walt Spolum; Gary & Charmaine Sommerfield; Darold & Sharon Gruen; Diana Glaunert; Margie & Tom Bratchner. Delbert was preceded in death by his only sister Irma & her husband George Sommerfield; only brother Alfred & his wife Gladys Gruen; and brother-in-law Lawrence Sowle. Del served in the US Navy during WWII, built the family home in 1954, did all home/mechanical repairs himself, liked to fish & hunt. He retired from Amron Corp in Waukesha in 1989 & traveled the USA in a 5th wheel with Eileen for several years after that. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
