Obituary

Dennis John Schwab entered Eternal Rest on March 1, 2024 at the age of 74.

Dennis was born on June 24,1949 in Linton, ND. He was the first child of the late Joseph and Imogene (Schwahn) Schwab. He was raised on the Schwab farm outside of Strasburg, ND. He attended St. Benedict Catholic School and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1967.

Dennis moved to Milwaukee following his graduation and was employed with Allen Bradley. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam and highly valued his service to his country.
After his honorary military discharge, he relocated to Rockford, Illinois where he worked as a lineman, installing highline towers. He returned to Milwaukee where he took employment with Briggs and Stratton as a Machinist and Tool and Die Maker for 28 years. After leaving Briggs and Stratton, Dennis worked for Huff North America until the time of his retirement.

Dennis enjoyed his retirement and spent endless hours at the Wilson Park Senior Center where he used his woodworking talents to create beautiful works of art. He participated in the Creative Arts Competition at the Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee where his works of Scroll Saw/Fretwork were awarded 1st Place. In addition, he donated several pieces of art to benefit local veterans.

His greatest achievements in life were his sons Michael and Johnny and his daughter-in-law Paige. Grateful to have shared in his life are his brothers Duane (Sharon), Daryl (Shirley), John, Joe (Angie) and his sisters Cheryl, Mary Jo (Mario) Stanislao, Lannette (David) Wald and Charlene (David) Durski.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Imogene Schwab, grandparents John and Magdelena Schwab, Leopold and Katie Schwahn, and Brother Daniel.

We wish to express our gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Clement J. Zablocki Veteran's Hospital for the wonderful care given to Dennis. Special thanks to the Accent Hospice staff for your support during his final days.
Dennis battled cancer for the past eight years with courage and dignity.
