Meyer, Don J. It is with great sorrow that we inform our family, friends and customers that Don's time with us has ended. He passed away peacefully with his wife Joan at his side, as she has been for so many years, on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Preceded in death by his son, Ricky. Survived by his sister Margaret Brown. Further survived by many other relatives. Don's lifetime contributions to the animal world began as early as 1950 and carried on to achieve great respect throughout the zoo community; including his development of an elephant management program in the United States and the start of his own zoo, Jo-Don Farm, Inc. Don has left us with a great knowledge of animal keeping that will always be treasured and carried on by his wife Joan Meyer, son Bob (Kathy) Meyer, and granddaughters Danielle and Alexaundria Meyer. Don's quick witt, unusual sense of humor and huge heart have left us all with unique and special memories. He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
