Donald J. Cebar, age 96, Born to Eternal life November 22, 2023, at West Allis Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1927, in Milwaukee, the son of Alice (Duerr) and Marioh Cebar.
Don served in the United States Army from January 19, 1951, to January 22, 1953, leaving as a Corporal. Serving in the 470th Military Intelligence Brigade and APO 227. He also received an Army of Occupation Medal for his service.
Before joining the Army, Don worked at Allis Chalmers as a drilling machine operator. After leaving, he worked at GE Medical Systems as a machine operator from August 1963 until retirement in July 1987.
Although Don had a variety of interests, accomplishments, and talents, spending time with family and friends brought him the most joy. He also loved caring for his special granddaughter Erin for all the many years that he could. He still worried about her even while in the hospital. Don was an avid golfer and was still golfing at 95 years old. He liked to work on automobiles and on small engines (lawn mowers, tractors) in his spare time. He had lots of projects to do when he retired and was still working on them upon his death. He also liked to do brain solving and 3D puzzles and never came across one he couldn't solve. Don was a classic car enthusiast and loved to go to car shows. His favorite songs were The Wayward Wind and Barney Google "with the goo goo googly eyes". For years Don hung out with his good friends at McDonalds in Hales Corners, drinking coffee and solving the issues of the world (LOL).
Even after the loss of his wife on December 13, 2016, Don continued to live in his home with the help of Sheryl, Paul and other family and friends. His was a life-long man of faith and worship and attended church at St. Martin of Tours Parish for 40 plus years.
Don is survived by a son, Michael, like a daughter, Sheryl and like a grandson, Paul. He is also survived by brother Tony, sister Beverly (Jim), and stepchildren Keith (Nancy), Kit (Lee), and Kerry. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte "Charlie", and numerous other relatives.
Don's family would like to give a special thanks to the medical staff in the ICU unit at West Allis Memorial Hospital for all the love and care given to him.
