Donald Roy Luhmann, the son of Edwin and Rose Luhmann, was born on December 29, 1933 at his parents farm home in Westford Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He was made a child of God 30 days later, on January 28, 1934 through the Sacrament of Baptism. Rev. C.C. Metz officiating. His primary education was at St. James Lutheran Parochial School. A one teacher, one room school under Teacher Theodore Metz. Donald reaffirmed his baptismal vows on March 30, 1947 when through the Rite of Confirmation he became a communicant member of St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop, Minnesota. Rev. Koberg officiating.After graduating from Truman High School, Truman, Minnesota in June, 1951 he attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture School. He then attended the Dunwoody Industrial College, Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated with a Electrical Technician Associate Degree in May, 1955. He then enlisted in the United States Army in July, 1955. After training at Ft. Bliss, Texas he was located in Hegewisch Station, Chicago, Illinois at a Nike Missile Site. He was honorably discharged in July 1958. He then took a position with Remington Rand Corporation repairing computers and was located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.On February 11, 1961 he married Mildred Burzynski. God blessed them with four children. Patricia, Linda, Carol and Michael. In August, 1962 they bought their present home in Wind Lake, Wisconsin.In 1971 he gave up his tool bag and was promoted into management. After 38 years and several company name changes he retired from Unisys Corporation on February 14, 1996. In 1962 he became a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Waterford, Wisconsin. He was active in the church serving on the Board of elders, Church Council, Memorial & Bequest Fund and other committees.Don loved the game of golf and enjoyed fishing on Wind Lake. He planted a large garden each year sharing the bounty with friends and family.On 5/24/17 Donald was called to spend his first day with God at his Eternal Home. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mildred, his children Patty Hein and her husband Will, Linda Martinez and her husband Danny, Carol Taunton and her husband Harold Jr. and Mike Luhmann and his wife Amy, grandchildren Robbie, Matt, Scott (Kelsey), Kaitlyn, Holly, Amber, Zack, Jessica, Jacob and Cody.He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Lena and his sister, Eileen. Interment will be at the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
