Obituary

Donald "Gramps" Ormsby Our beloved "Dad" and "Gramps" passed away quietly at the age of 84 on March 10th, 2019 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. Present for one last night together were his faithful sidekicks Meghan Ormsby, Tommy Scott and Angela Zuniga-Meyer. He is survived by his loving and witty wife Margaret Ormsby and was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Isabelle and brothers James and Edward. The extensive family Donald and Margaret created over 62 years of marriage include family of blood and of heart. The family that bears his legacy are 7 Children: Ann (Scott) Olsen, Sue (Mike) Miller, Linda Solati, Lisa (Tim) Ormsby Steinhauer, Patrick (Patricia) Ormsby, Ronald (Amber) Ormsby and Meghan Ormsby. Along with 17 grandchildren: Maria (Cullen), Angela (Patrick), Shahriar (Emily), Nick, Leila, Melissa, Molly, Erin, Maggie, McKenzie, Jessica, Joseph, Carson, Ian, Roman, Hudson and Lily. As well as 9 Great-Grandchildren: Theodore, Isabel, Haley, Madeline, Elizabeth, McCoy, Clara, Anabella and Josephine. Gramps' heart also had profound pride for "his boy" Tommy Scott.Mr. "O" faithfully served the Milwaukee community as a Salesman for MetLife for well over 5 decades. His service to clients ensured generations of families had the safety net of a life insurance policy. He never complained that his phone never stopped ringing nor that nights were filled with "book work" except at 6:30 when the Wheel was on. His work was his pride and the tool he used to give his family life and many "Traditions". He much cherished annually gathering his family "Up North" and at the infamous Pheasant Run. These yearly traditions cemented our family bonds. His home was our refuge and we knew the door and dinner table was always open.Donald's final days overflowed with family and friends who streamed in and out sharing memories and love with Gramps. Our family expresses deep gratitude toward the exceptional care the Lawlis Family Hospice staff provided Don before he departed us. Regardless if you called him "Dad", "Gramps" or "Mr O." this "legend" leaves a legacy that reminds us to honor traditions, get cats, eat donuts and always keep your heart, home and table open. The celebration of Donald Ormsby's Life is March 20, 2019 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 18255 Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53045.
