-Peterson, Donald L. Passed away July 5, 2016 at age 82. His wife, Joan, of 59 years was at his side. Donald was a dedicated administrator in the Milwaukee Public School system. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving our country between 1954 and 1956. Donald was a devoted member of the South Milwaukee Lions Club. He served as president and in various other positions. Through the Lions Club he skied with BOLD, an organization to help blind and sight impaired people enjoy the out of doors. He traveled to various countries to distribute eye glasses to their citizens. He transported eye tissue in Wisconsin and checking the eyes of public school children kept him busy. Donald received the Melvin Jones Fellow award from the Lions Club International and also the Birch-Sturm award from the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. Sailing was a pleasure he enjoyed. He sail raced to Cuba, and sailed on several Queens Cup races on Lake Michigan. Sailing on the Gulf, intercostal waters, Atlantic and Lake Michigan was pure pleasure. Curling and Bonspiels was fun for him. Donald was a volunteer at the Village Church Food Pantry. Whatever he participated in he gave his all. Donald is further survived by his sisters, Berdyne (John) Braier, Clare Kuswa, Eridth (Jerry) Knezic and brother Arden (Noemi), brother-in-law Gary (Nancy) Reiten, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and many friends. A private family service will be held.
