Went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.  He was born on November 21, 1940 in Des Moines, IA to Webb and Emma Smith.Don is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carole (nee Larson) Smith; children Michelle (John) Fay, and Adrin (Lacy) Smith; grandchildren, John Michael and Paul Fay; and Gabriel and Jedidiah Smith; sister Emma Darlene Tesch; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert and William Smith, and granddaughter Naomi Ruth Smith.Don was a professional architect for 42 years, 35 of which he practiced with Zimmerman Architectural Studios.  After his retirement, he continued his passion for design by volunteering his architectural gifts with Missionary Tech Team, Lake Geneva Youth Camp, and other Christian ministries.Don was very active at Wauwatosa Bible Chapel, which he attended for almost 50 years.  He was an active member of the community serving on many boards of directors, including Lake Geneva Youth Camp, Southwest YMCA, American Institute of Architects, and Wheaton Franciscan-St. Joseph Foundation.Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 3 to 6pm.  Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11am.  Private interment will follow.Memorials may be given to Christian Missions In Many Lands, Missionary Tech Team, and Lake Geneva Youth Camp.
