Hanson, Dorothy (Nee Funk) Age 83, of Dousman, formerly of Elcho and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on February 23, 2012. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Carl Jay Hanson and Janet R. Swandby of Oconomowoc, and Robert and Tammy Hanson of Milwaukee, four grandchildren, Rebecca (Wilhelm) Berghorn of Bremen, Germany, Brandon of New Jersey, Ryan of Milwaukee and Alexandra of Burlington, Vermont. She is further survived by her sister Hattie Jacobson of Arizona and her brother Carl Funk of Brookfield, many nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and other siblings. Dorothy was born on June 3, 1928, to Casimir and Veronica Nowicki Funk in Milwaukee, and she married Carl J. Hanson on April 12, 1947, in Milwaukee. Dorothy and Carl had been married for more than 61 years when he passed away in 2008. She worked as Supervisor of the Ladies Health Service at the Milwaukee Athletic Club until her retirement in 1987. Dorothy and Carl then moved to the cottage he built on Lower Post Lake in Elcho. In 2007, Dorothy and Carl moved to Three Pillars in Dousman to be closer to their sons. Dorothy was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. She loved the outdoors and all living things. She was a sports fan and rarely passed up a chance to play cards and other games with friends. Dorothy enjoyed hosting family and friends at the cottage, but she was happiest at Carl's side and acting as passenger and navigator on their travels which took them to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and most of the lower 48 states.
