Du Wayne Robert Spangenberg, 88, of Hartland, WI, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2025.
Du Wayne was married to his beloved wife, Shirley A. Spangenberg (nee Graff) on September 19th, 1959, in Sister Bay, WI. They lived in Milwaukee, WI, where he had joined the Marine Reserves. While in the Marine Reserves he began his training to become a Milwaukee Police Officer. Due to conflicting schedules with police training and the reserves, he was discharged as a Private First Class (E-2) and moved over to the Army Reserves. He eventually was honorably discharged as a Sargent (E-5).
He continued on as a Milwaukee Police Officer where he retired after 34 years of service on the force. He would go on to become a member of the Free Masonry and the Tripoli Temple Shriners where he served as a Class Marshall. Eventually Du Wayne and Shirley built their home in Hartland, WI, where they spent the rest of their years together.
Throughout the years, Du Wayne loved to spend time golfing, fishing, small game hunting and working with his beloved dogs, Blade and Blue. He spent time serving as his daughter's softball coach and his son's little league coach. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events.
Many family vacations and fond memories were made throughout the years. He was known to be a prankster and loved to play practical jokes on his family and friends. Family get togethers were usually never without him showing off his musical talents on his organ or accordion or you were playing cards or board games. He was one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
Du Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Norma (nee Schroeder) Spangenberg and wife Shirley.
He is survived by his daughter Le Ann Moore and son Scott Spangenberg (Kim). Grandchildren Brittney (Joe), Cody, and Danielle. Great-grandchild Joey. Sister Donna Smith and nephews Lowell Szudajski (Ellen) and Blaine Szudajski (Susan). Along with many other family and friends.
"Visitation for Du Wayne will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park on November 15th from 11am-12pm with service to follow."
