Obituary

Dwight Lyle Bergner
October 22, 1955 – December 30, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dwight Lyle Bergner on December 30, 2024, in Muskego, Wisconsin, at the age of 69.

Dwight was born on October 22, 1955, and graduated from Washington High School in 1974. He dedicated over 30 years to his career as a sales representative for Wonder Bread while balancing various part-time jobs. In 1976, he served briefly in the Army National Guard, earning an Honorable Discharge.

Known for his sharp wit and playful pranks, Dwight brought joy and laughter wherever he went. A passionate athlete, he loved basketball, fishing, golfing, and especially bowling—a sport he excelled at for over 50 years. Dwight bowled multiple perfect 300 games and participated in countless teams and tournaments throughout his life.

A true people person, Dwight's outgoing and friendly nature made him a familiar face wherever he went and often knew people wherever he went. His greatest joy, however, came from being with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent teaching, playing, and creating lasting memories with them.

Dwight is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Ann Bergner; his son Paul Grotjahn (Becky) and granddaughter Annie Grotjahn; his daughters Ashley Bergner and Chelsea Bergner (besties); his grandchildren Chloe (his angel) and Adam Bergner (I got your hair first); and his cherished cat, Chloe.

He is further survived by his siblings: sister Rosie Pups; brothers Jim Bergner (Kathy) and Duane Bergner (Penny); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lorraine Bergner; and his siblings Eugene Bergner, Wendy Nelson, Brian Bergner, and Bobby Bergner.

Dwight's legacy is one of laughter, love, and kindness. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warm smile, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Dwight. You were truly one of the good ones, and your memory will forever bring a smile to our hearts.
