Eleanor Helen Henneman (nee Horacek) joined her Savior on February 8, 2015 at the age of 91, passing away at the Vitas Hospice Center where she was being lovingly cared for. Eleanor was born in Ludington, MI on January 4, 1924 to John and Mary (nee Cherney) Horacek. She was the youngest of 7 children. After graduating from St Simons High School in Ludington, MI, Eleanor moved to Milwaukee, WI to live with her mother's family, the Cherneys. She began working for a Jewish family where she learned to become a fabulous cook. She met her future husband, Norbert A. Henneman from Lena, WI, at the USO in Milwaukee. They were eventually married on Feb 19, 1943. While her husband was stationed near Chicago, she worked at an aircraft manufacturing plant near Chicago, IL as a "Rosie the Riveter" supporting the war effort. When he was sent overseas, she moved to Ludington and lived with her family. At the conclusion of WW II, they began their family on the north side of Milwaukee. In 1956, they moved to the south side of Milwaukee where they raised their 5 children. After their retirement, they moved to a small lake cottage near Grand Rapids, MI which was enjoyed by their children and grandchildren. Eventually they moved back to Eleanor's home town of Ludington, MI. She continued to live in Ludington after the death of her husband until her health began to decline. She then moved back to Milwaukee to live with her son Greg. Eleanor is survived by her sons Thomas (Gwen) and Greg (Sandy) Henneman. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert A. Henneman, her son Norbert W. Henneman and her daughters Deirdre Henneman and Mary (Steve) Goodridge. She will be missed by her family including her grandchildren Amy, James, Mandy, Jessica, Tommy, Alexandra, Andrea, Benjamin and Abby and her great grandchildren Eli, Sam, Ryan, Owen and Kiera and 2 great grandchildren due in several months. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Service at 7 PM.
