Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Hooyman (nee Armock) died comfortably in her home on July 1st, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Milwaukee on May 13, 1947. May 13th was an important day for her as she also married Thomas "Tom" Hooyman on that date in 1967. They were married for 56 years, which Betty was so proud of. They raised two wonderful daughters, Lisa Marie and Letitia. Betty lived much of her life on the east side of Milwaukee and loved her home in Shorewood along with her Courtland "alley" apple tree. Later in life she moved west to Wauwatosa to be near family, which was most important to her.

Betty had strong faith and was deeply connected to her church. She was an active member of Holy Family Church in Whitefish Bay for many years, where she helped found the Loaves and Fishes project, which provided meals for families going through difficult times. When she moved to St. Pius X in Wauwatosa, she continued as a Eucharistic Minister. Betty would pray for whoever asked. Every day on her way to work, she would provide a healthy snack to those on the street. She could always be counted on for prayer and charity.

In addition to her role as wife, mother and grandmother, she greatly enjoyed her work in retail and was an expert in helping pick paint colors, selling wall coverings and patio sets. Betty loved to come home to brag about how much she sold that day! Her many handiworks will be cherished, especially her handmade quilts and scrapbooks.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Tom, as well as her children, Lisa Marie (Daniel) Idzikowski and Letitia (Adam) Berghammer. She was most proud of her five grandchildren, Joshua, Eliana, Charlotte, Elleanor and Edward, and her AFS son Reimond. She also is survived by her brother, Richard "Dick" (Christine) Armock.

We love and miss your kind, generous spirit, and look forward to seeing you again!

Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, July 27th at St Pius X Catholic Church, 2506 N. Wauwatosa Ave, Wauwatosa, WI 53213. Visitation at 4pm until the time of service at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice, but Betty would love if it helped the homeless.
