Ethel D. Akerlund, age 83, of Greendale, WI, formerly of Racine and Kenosha. Ethel passed away at her home with her two daughters by her side on Thursday, October 16, 2014.  She was born August 12, 1931 in Binghamton, N.Y., daughter to the late Floyd and Gladys (Walton) Baker.  Ethel was a business office manager for most of her career.  After retiring, she worked and later volunteered for Interfaith Older Adult Programs.  She was involved in their telephone reassurance program, connecting isolated Milwaukee county seniors with volunteers.  Surviving are her two daughters, Cynthia (Benito) Martinez of Milwaukee and Linda (Les) Liegel of Madison; her beloved grandchildren Michael Holt, Sarah Holt, Kyle Liegel, Carly Liegel; and her sister Alice May of Racine.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Amy Akerlund, and sisters Beverly Hansen and Arlene Johnson.  A celebration of her life will take place with a private burial ceremony at a later date.
