Hoffman, Gary L. Age 69, of Amherst, Wisconsin, joined our Lord on April 1, 2013. He was enjoying his time with his wife on a Caribbean cruise when he became ill. He died in a Cozumel, Mexico hospital as a result of major heart issues. Gary was born August 3, 1943, to the late Lloyd and Anna (Draayers) Hoffman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up in Muskego, Wisconsin and graduated from Muskego High School in 1961. Gary was married to his prior wife, Margaret (Frahm) Hoffman (deceased), on September 21, 1963, with whom he had 3 children. He spent 7 years in the United States Air Force and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bellevue College, Nebraska, in 1972. After working as a police officer in Plattsmouth, Nebraska for a short time, Gary moved to Allen, Nebraska, where he began a successful, 30+ year career in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster. He was well respected by both his peers and many in the legal profession for his knowledge and expertise and ultimately retired from Sentry Insurance Company in 2008. On November 8, 1997, he married Vicki (Gullekson-Cody) and was proud to be a dad to her 4 children. Gary will be remembered for his warm and welcoming personality, his sense of humor, his love of life, and his love for his family; especially for his grandchildren. His favorite past-times included using his big blue farm tractor, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and watching both NASCAR races and the Green Bay Packers. Gary will be greatly missed by everyone. Survivors include wife, Vicki, 3 children, Michael (Milissa), Craig (Suzanne), and Jennifer Cowell (Grant); 4 step-children, Amanda Ogle (William), Matthew Cody (Cory), Catherine Cody, and Jill Ackerman (Josh); 6 grandchildren, Jocelyn, Elias, Miliana, Mitchell, Kurt, and Harley, and 5 step-grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Xavier, Natalie and Levi; 2 brothers, Richard (Marsha) and Thomas (Susan) and 1 sister, Julie Olson (Charles) as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.Cemetery:A private family burial at Rural Home Cemetery in Big Bend, Wisconsin will follow the service.Visitation:Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Fri., April 12 from 9 AM - 12 noon.Service:Funeral service to follow 12 noon.
