WEST ALLIS - Passed into eternal life on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 75.

Gary was born in Milwaukee April 19, 1949, to Laverne and Virginia Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis (nee Lindahl), to whom he married March 8,1975, his sons Scott (Venita) and Brian (Cindy) and his grandchildren Rezner, Breanna and Thomas, beloved sister Sandra (Jim) Kuemmel, brother Dennis, sister-in-law Diane Bickler (Willie Seiske) and cherished uncle of Clayton Bickler and the late Chad Bickler. Further survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceded in death by parents and sister Patty.

He graduated from Juneau High School in 1967 where he played basketball. He retired from Briggs and Stratton after 30 years. He then was employed by Daniels Catering and Von Maur.

Gary was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. During his earlier life he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He played in dart leagues, handball, softball, (including veterans wheelchair) horseshoes for Special Olympics, and cards with friends. He was a true competitor.

He loved to host family and friends at his well-stocked bar. He was quick with a joke or a funny story. Gary was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. His helpful spirit and generosity knew no bounds.

Rest easy Gary. You will always be loved and missed by those who shared your life.

Visitation at Hartson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm. Memorial Service 1 pm.
