Obituary

Gregory M. Cottone, of Franklin, WI, passed away on October 8, 2026 at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra (nee Raatz) Cottone; his daughters Jennifer (Steve) Hanke, Angie (Paul) Santarelli, and Carrie (Kevin) Taylay; his nine beloved grandchildren Madison, Kody, Tyler, Charlie, and Riley; Vinny, Gio, and Joey; and Aiden. Greg will be further remembered by his siblings Jackie (Bruce) Peters and Bob (Kathy) Cottone; brother-in-law Jeff (the late Jane) Raatz; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents Anthony and Joyce (nee Kurtz) Cottone.

A master electrician by trade and a true craftsman at heart, he was a man of remarkable talent who could build, fix, or figure out just about anything. He had a lifelong love for muscle cars and a gift for working with his hands. Whether it was a project that needed finishing, something that needed fixing, or simply someone who needed a helping hand, he was always the one you called. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do, and even less he wouldn’t do for the people he loved.

But above all his talents and accomplishments, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren deeply, and that love was woven into everything he did. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a cherished brother whose presence, wisdom, and willingness to help made a lasting difference in the lives of those around him.

He leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind a lifetime of lessons, countless things built and repaired by his hands, and a family forever shaped by his love. While there may be things he can no longer fix for us, the love he gave and the legacy he built will remain with us always.

A funeral mass in Greg’s honor will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Faith Community (9520 W Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners, WI 53130) on Friday, October 16, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM, with a mass to follow at 10:30 AM.
