Goehring, Heinz, 87, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family, April 25, 2013. Survived by Rotraud 'Traudie' (nee Vogt), his loving wife of nearly 60 years; Father of Heidi (Craig) Schroeder and Karin Marquardt; Grandfather 'Opa' of Kristin (Ryan) Born, Lindsey Marquardt, Lauren and Kelly Schroeder. As an engineer for General Motors, Heinz worked on the guidance system used by NASA for the Apollo spacecrafts that went to the moon. He was instrumental in setting up catalytic converter production lines for GM in the U.S., South Korea and European countries. His work and innovations in electronics were his life; sailing was his passion. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
