Heinz P. Ries, age 74, found peace Thursday, January 12th following a battle with multiple health issues. Born in Germany, he moved to the US at the age of 17 after serving an apprenticeship in the painting trades. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army and became a US Citizen. He was a member of the Painters and Teamsters Unions and enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, camping, playing cribbage and listening to Oldies music.
Heinz was beloved husband to Nancy for 37 years, loving father to Mark (Peggy) Tilley and Christopher (Guilia) Ries, dear Opa to grandchildren Grace, Charlotte, Adam, Rashad, Spencer, Arianna and Alicia and brother-in-law to Sandy (David) Zaniewski and Kathy (Todd) Vance.
Heinz was preceded in death by his father Heinrich and mother Ilse, his sister Renate Kniprath and his brother-in-law John (Donna) Smithes.
All who were lucky enough to know him, knew that Heinz loved his dogs, Cooper and Joey, was a wonderful story teller, could fix anything, and made friends wherever he went.
Heinz will be greatly missed by his family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and by his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Disabled American Veterans or the Alzheimer's Association.
