Varda, Henry R. "Hank" Age 77. Born to eternal life on January 5, 2015. Beloved and admired husband of Rose Marie (nee Mitchell) for 47 years. Cherished and guidingfather of Craig (Courtney) Varda. Proud and adoring grandpa of Carly and Carter. Special friend and loving brother of Jeanne (Paul) Betters, Lorraine (Phil) Hagedorn, Jim (Kathy) Varda and Justin (Sally) Varda. Special brother-in-law of Marguerite (Kent) Anderson, Carol Kleist (Ted Neary) and Dennis Mitchell (Donna Kroll). Further survived by six nieces, ten nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents Henry and Henrietta Varda, his niece Sally Marie Varda and brother-in-law Gary Mitchell. Hank was born in Norway, Michigan on April 16, 1937. He graduated from Vulcan High School in 1955 as Salutatorian. He attended Michigan Tech University and graduated from Northern Michigan College in 1960 with a BS in Industrial Ed and Math. He went on to be employed by AC Delco from 1960 to 1968 before becoming the "Grass Roots Coordinator" for the Milwaukee Regional Office of George Romney's 1968 Presidential campaign. After that he was employed by Schlitz Brewing Company from 1968 to 1979 in Business Information Systems. From 1979 until his retirement at the end of 1999 Hank had various management positions in Information Technology at Abbott Laboratories. Hank was a member of the South Milwaukee Jaycees on a local and national level from 1963 to 1972. He also served as a committee member for the Southeast Wisconsin region of "America's Junior Miss Pageant" from 1965 to 1969. He was instrumental in starting the original air show at General Mitchell Field from 1966 to 1975. He became president of the air show in 1975. In all that Hank accomplished he was also an "extremely avid" deer hunter who loved the old country music and the Grand Old Opry. He volunteered for the Mitt Romney campaign in 2012 and was a volunteer for the Kenosha Chapter of United Way for several years. A celebration of Hank's life will be held at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave. Hales Corners on Sat. Jan. 31st with visitation from 11 am to 12:15 pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:30 pm.
