Herbert Mathias Cup, age 89 of Germantown, Wisconsin, entered eternal life on September 15, 2021. Herb was born in Duisburg, Germany on July 24, 1932 to John and Anna Cup. At the age of 9 months, his family settled in Milwaukee, WI.
After graduating Washington High School in Milwaukee, WI in 1950, he proudly served two years in the Korean War as a US Army Corporal from 1951 to 1953. He met the love of his life, Loretta Joyce Mueller at ballroom dance class. They married one year later on February 8, 1958, and went on to celebrate 63 wonderful years together.
Herb started an apprenticeship at Harley Davidson and was promoted to foreman of their tool room. Having a love for learning, Herb earned his Masters Degree of Education from National-Lewis University and taught night school at Milwaukee Area Technical College, before becoming a full-time Machine tool instructor at Waukesha County Technical College. With a love for the outdoors, Herb was an avid hunter, fisherman, cyclist and cross-country skier.
Surviving Herb are his loving spouse Lorrie, his four children Kathleen Bucher (John), John Cup (Laura), James Cup (JoBeth), and Julie Slatinshek. His nine grandchildren Jessica (Andy), JJ (Sierra), Amanda (Ryan), Mikayla, Nicholas, Ethan, Brandon, Anna and Hannah. And five great grandchildren Reagan, Liam, Zelie, Halen and Henry. He is further survived by his sister Ruth Moegenberg, sister-in-law Diane (David) Michael and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his faithful companion, his dog Jade.
Family gatherings, vacations and camping trips were important to Herb and he cherished time with family and friends. He built lifelong memories and was a kind and generous soul.
Herb and Lorrie traveled the world during their retirement years and found their favorite winter escape in sunny Arizona. Herb also loved creating stain glass and woodworking crafts for friends and family. He lived a full and happy life, and his love will be forever imprinted in the hearts of those who knew him.
