Herbert John Witt, age 92, passed away on September 26. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley. He is survived by his children Patricia Witt and John (Connie) Witt, grandchildren Kira (Eric) Cortese and Brian (Lori) Witt, and great-grandson Owen Herbert Witt. He was born February 27, 1923 in Portage Wisconsin, and worked for the Milwaukee Road as a telegrapher. He served in WWII with the US Army in the 721st Railroad Battalion in India from 1942 to 1945, part of the China-Burma-India theatre. He rejoined the Milwaukee Road as a station agent, and then joined the family electrical equipment sales business. He was a member of Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, where he served with the "gray panthers" who maintained many aspects of the building. He served with Boy Scout Troop 118 and the Greater Milwaukee Boy Scout Council, and was a 32nd degree Mason and former Grand Master of Elmbrook Lodge. A memorial service will be held on October 22nd at 11AM at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, 2366 N 80th St. The family will receive guests at 10AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church.
