Jack W. SorgeAge 83. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Aug. 20, 2016. Jack was born July 17, 1933 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Winfred and Vida Sorge, also life-long residents of Green Bay. He met his wife Helen in the local ice cream shop, while both were attending rival Green Bay high schools (east vs west), they were married for 61 years. Jack graduated from UW – Madison earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He also earned his Master's Degree in Engineering at Penn State. After earning his engineering degrees, and a short stint with GM in Michigan, Jack and Helen moved to Hales Corners in 1960. He went on to work for Bucyrus Erie (B-E), a mining equipment company, as a design engineer, then moving on to service engineering. He remained with B-E for 30 years, retiring at age 55, then moving on to enjoying life for the next 30 years with his wife Helen at his side. Jack was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts, being Troop 598 leader for many years. Jack and Helen loved traveling the world together. In addition to all fifty states, they visited exotic places such as Vanuatu, Europe, Russia, South America, Africa, Australia, and Fiji - just to name a few. Jack designed and built their second home in Three Lakes on Lone Stone Lake, and when the first one burned down due to lightning, they built a second. Jack always enjoyed hosting extended family vacations at their home up north. Always a favorite, were the multiple trips to Disney World with his kids and grandkids, including a spectacular 50th wedding anniversary cruise in the Caribbean. In addition to his wife, Helen, Jack is survived by son Steven (Tracy) of Eagle, Wisconsin, and their children Kendra (Bryan) - and their son Jack, Kelly, Kory and Claire, all residing in the Milwaukee/Whitewater area; son Dave (Pat), and their sons Chris and Nick, all residing in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and Jack's sister Phyllis of Rochester, New York. Visitation Wednesday, Aug. 24, 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Service at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shriners Hospital.
