Jacob David Fry, 93, of Union Grove, Wisconsin, formerly of Brookfield, Wisconsin,died February 25, 2018 at Burlington Memorial Hospital.Born on August 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Miles W. and Babette (Ruppin) Fry,of Frysville, near Ephrata, Pennsylvania. He grew up on the family farm in Frysville. In1941, he graduated from Ephrata H.S., and entered Cornell University, Ithaca N.Y. Jacobserved in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1945 in General Patton's 3rd Armyleading an engineering and operations unit across occupied northern France, and laterserved in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He earned a Bachelors of Science in AgriculturalEngineering (1948) and Masters of Business Administration (1949), both from CornellUniversity. On June 21, 1952, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Schaff Fry (M.A., TempleUniv.) Jacob worked in sales and marketing in the heavy equipment industry his entirecareer, starting with Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, IL and Europe. He retired in 1988 fromHarnischfeger (Joy Global/Komatsu) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and continued workingin heavy equipment as a consultant for Ormson Corporation, and as an independentcontractor until 2004.Predeceased by his wife Betty (1928-2002), and his sister Ann Fish (Muskegon, MI).Surviving are: sister Charlotte Poor (Peoria, IL); brother Morton (Beckie) Fry (Ephrata,PA); daughters, M. Susanna Fry (Kenosha, WI) and Sarah "Sally" Fry (Greg) Bruch(Brookfield, WI); son Samuel J. Fry (Waukesha, WI); 5 grandchildren, Michael J.Thompson (Las Vegas, NV), Christina A. Thompson (Jeff Olson) (Chicago, IL),Ruthanne A. Bruch (Tim) Busch (Dallas, TX), George W. Bruch (Sheboygan, WI),David J. Bruch (Sheboygan, WI); and, many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces andnephews.The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Clement J. Zablocki V.A. Medical Center inMilwaukee for the fine care he received over the years in his retirement, to the V.A.Nursing Home in Union Grove, Wisconsin for their wonderful nursing care, and to theBurlington Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during his final illness.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Heart Association.Inurnment with Full Military Honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182 on Thursday, March 22nd at 12 Noon.
