Born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the age of 89. Memorial services will be held Monday July 10, 2023, with visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with Mass to follow at 12:00 pm.
Jim Breitzman was born February 6, 1934 in Greendale, Wisconsin. He married his cherished wife Judith (Judy) in 1955, and they were married for 58 years at the time of her death in 2013. Jim and Judy adored each other and raised five children together in Greendale, Wisconsin, while Jim worked as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their children and fourteen grandchildren. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who also loved to play games and be in the presence of his loved ones.
Jim was beloved by almost all who knew him, not only by his family but by others he crossed paths with as well. He was adored because of his immense likability as a person. Jim was warm, kind, and had a sense of humor that could lighten any situation. He knew how to tease people in a way that was both positive and humorous, and he was happiest when people were laughing. His many jokes and comical reactions to situations are some of his children and grandchildren's fondest memories of him. His children and grandchildren remember him as one of the most steadfastly loyal figures in their lives, as he was always willing to lend his love and support to them. Jim also had a special bond with his two older siblings, Maxine and Don. The three of them had a close relationship that lasted well into their elderly years, and Jim's many nieces and nephews through Maxine and Don remember him fondly as well. More recently, Jim was honored by the birth of his namesake, his great-grandson, James. Jim will leave a legacy of love and laughter that will resonate throughout his family for years to come.
Jim's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all who cared for Jim at Vitas Hospice. Their exceptional compassion and support provided comfort to Jim in his final days. The family would also like to extend gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Layton Terrace, for their dedication to caring for Jim in his final years while he resided at their facility.
Jim is survived by his sons, William (Patti), Thomas (Lynn), Jeffrey (Sandra), and Jamie (Traci), and his daughter, Jodi (Joe) Machi. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Maxine (the late Richard) Eddy; his brother, Donald (Anne) Breitzman; numerous nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Breitzman; his father, Max Breitzman; and his mother, Mary (nee Baravetto) Breitzman.
