James (Jim) Buske, Age 73, Wauwatosa, WI, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on April 29, 1952, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Wallace and Geraldine Buske.

Jim graduated from Pius High School in 1970. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1974. College is where Jim met some of his lifelong friends, collectively known as The Shabs, who were an important part of Jim’s life.

Jim met the love of his life, Linda Rogowski, and married in 1979. Through all of life's ups and downs, they stuck by each other, caring for one another with love and commitment, and raised two children, Paul and Zachary.

Jim worked in the Engineering Department for the Village of Brown Deer for 34 years. He was a dedicated civil servant who took great pride in his work.

Jim loved writing, fishing, sports (specifically the Milwaukee Brewers), but above all, he loved his family. Family was everything to Jim. He made sure to be at all of his sons' games or events, be together for holidays or birthdays, or simply to play cards or have a family dinner. He was steady, consistent, and present. Jim was always there to lend a helping hand when needed and lend an ear to listen.

Jim’s story could not be told without mention of the 1995 accident that changed his life. After a fall from a ladder left him paralyzed below the waist, he refused to let the injury define him. Bolstered by the support of his family, friends, and community, Jim persevered, eventually joining the National Spinal Cord Injury Association. He faced his challenges without complaint, setting an enduring example for his sons and all who knew him. For many years, he lived a remarkably independent and fulfilling life.

Remaining to cherish Jim’s memory are wife, Linda, children, PJ (Nan) and Zach (Courtney), grandchildren, Oliver, Mae, Beau and Calvin; brother, Jeff (Joan); sisters, Debbie (Craig) and Mary (Kevin); sister-in-law Sandy, numerous nieces and nephews, and of course, The Shabs.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents, Wally and Geri, and brother, Don.

Celebration of Life will be held January 30th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Hartson Funeral Home, 11111 Janesville Rd, Hales Corners, WI 53130.
