Obituary

James Cook, of Hales Corners, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 6th, 2025. Born and raised in Hales Corners, James never strayed far from the place that shaped him — and he, in turn, filled it with his generosity, humor, and unmistakable presence.

Preceded in death by his wife, Pamela (née Schmitz); his parents, Eleanor (née Starck) and Delmer; his sister, Mary (Bob) Lukasavitz; and his sisters-in-law, Sharon and Kathy.

He is survived by his siblings, John (Pam), Pete (Billie Jo), and Paul; his daughters, Ashley, Kasandra, and Natalie; his sons-in-law, Nicholas Whittaker and Zackary Piette; and his grandchildren, Nolan and Kennedy. James was devoted to his family. His girls were his pride, his joy, and his greatest adventure.

James was larger than life in every way—big-hearted, jovial, and the kind of man who made strangers feel like lifelong friends. In his youth, he raised hell around town with his brothers and friends. Later in life, he was a dedicated Teamsters union truck driver, taking pride in the miles he logged and the hard work that came with the job. A true gearhead, he found joy in the rumble of an engine and the satisfaction of bringing old cars back to life.

He was a wonderful contradiction: a Harley-riding greaser with a soft spot for all furry creatures that crossed his path. When he wasn't on the open road or in the garage, he was happiest watching the wildlife in his backyard. James was unapologetically, unwaveringly authentic.

Though his loss leaves an empty space, his spirit remains deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. James will be remembered for his kind smile, his generous heart, and the way he made life feel a little lighter for everyone around him. His memory will forever ride alongside those who loved him most.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on December 27th, 2025, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at Sandra’s on the Park, 10049 W. Forest Home Ave. Hales Corners, WI 53130.
