James Edward DeYarman, 96, of Milwaukee, died July 16, 2015. Loving husband of the late Verdell DeYarman, he was preceded in death by his mother, Adela Hartman, and sister, June Block. Beloved father of, Richard (Ermine) DeYarman, and Lynn (Ken) Sigler, grandfather to Derrick, Nicole and Daniel (Nicole) DeYarman, Megan (Nathan) Willyerd, Mackenzie Sigler (Ryan Sanger) and is further survived by his great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, other dear relatives, friends, caregivers and those that knew him as "Dad".Born in Milwaukee, WI, to Adela and James DeYarman on June 9, 1919, during his life, James enjoyed many outdoor activities including swimming in the Milwaukee River, fishing and league softball. He graduated from North Division HS, attended Milwaukee Area Technical School and worked as a machinist over 35 years. James was a creative designer who was always solving problems and working on his many inventions. He also had a passion for guiding and mentoring others. He started the Starchasers Model Airplane club in the 50s, founded the Kite Society of Wisconsin in 1978, and with his wife, led kite building workshops across SE Wisconsin for over 20 years. After retirement, James enjoyed working on variety of projects and was granted a patent for his unique Styrofoam kite. He started painting in his 80s, sharing his artwork with family, friends and charitable organizations. Over the years, "Mom and Dad" DeYarman opened their home to many visiting dignitaries, lecturers, and foreign students, extending their family across the globe. James will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, kites, ice cream and storytelling. We love and miss you, Dad.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his neighbors (Denise, Bobby), East Side Senior Services (Elle, Jane), Milwaukee Family Care (Phil), Visiting Angels (Dee), Cornerstone Christian Home (Betty, Kelly, Nickie) and Vitas Hospice. A memorial service celebrating James' life will be held at Lake Park Lutheran Church, 2647 N. Stowell, Milwaukee, WI on August 30th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to East Side Senior Services.
