Obituary

Halbman, James Sr. Entered Eternal Life on October 6, 2009, at the age of 88. Loving husband of Evelyn (nee Szmurlo) for 55 years. Beloved father of six precious children, Barbara, James Jr (Patti), Michael, Angel Ronnie, Mark (Debbie), Beth (Daniel) Burazin, and dear friend of Ruth Faltinosky. Dear proud grandfather of eight sweetheart darling grandchildren and five adorable great-grandchildren. Further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim came from a family of professional musicians in St. Louis. He was in the coast guard band during WWII. Later he traveled with the popular big bands and in 1952 he joined the Holiday on Ice show as a key musician. where he met Evelyn who was a professional skater. Jim retired from Prudential after 25 years. and from Knights of Columbus after 10 years. Jim's life was filled with things that really mattered, family always came first. He treasured family gatherings filled with laughter and joyful celebrations. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, integrity, and strong faith. A heartfelt thanks to the many friends who enhanced the end of Jim's life journey: our forever friends Richard and Gloria Payne, your constant support, love, and generosity got us through some tough times; and our loving faithful friend Eddie Nickels of St. Louis, who valued and nurtured the friendship over 80 years; and to our angel friend Eleanor Binder and her late husband Bud of St. Louis, who though separated by time and miles were determined to never allow anything to interfere with their ever growing friendship; to Jack and Lucy Miskowic and Joe and Helen Szmurlo, gratitude for your spiritual support. A heartfelt thanks to all our special friends who blessed us in so many ways, you know who you are. Priceless beyond all earths imaginings is that friendship. Love is never lost, it is only transformed. Also thanks to the earth angels of Wheaton Francis Hospice for their loving compassionate care and support. Their giving is on the highest plane.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice is appreciated.Cemetery:Interment to follow at St. Adalbert's Cemetery.Visitation:Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, October 9, 4-7PM. Prayer Vigil 7PM.Service:Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 10, at 10AM, at the Basicilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th St., Milwaukee.
