Our family mourns the passing of our husband, father, and brother, who left this earth in the early afternoon of March 30 in pursuit of even better sleeping grounds in Heaven. Dad was three months shy of his 80th birthday on July 3. Jim is survived by his loving wife Dolores (Datka), sons Jeffrey and Jason, sisters Ruth Waite, Evelyn (Bob) Nowak and brother Francis (Mary). He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Jane (Prasser), brother Tom and sister Mary Jane (Govin). Also survived by many nephews and nieces, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws and friends. Jim had a Catholic upbringing in the idyllic Village of Greendale, Wisconsin as an "original", a place that continues to resonate in our lives. He graduated from St. John's Cathedral High School in Milwaukee and retired from General Motors in Oak Creek after 30+ years, many of those spent working in conjunction with the NASA space program. The Ircink family has resided in Waterford since 1976. Jim was a sleeper and was soft spoken – which serves his family well while they grieve for it will seem as though he is still with them. Jim lived life simply - which is the legacy he has left his sons. He was their hero. Jim was a Navy veteran and always spoke fondly of those days. He was a deeply religious man, but preferred an Irish exit upon his passing (no services – and he's Bohemian). He loved to bow hunt and fish with his sons; he loved cars and carpentry; he loved working in the yard & the outdoors. He met his wife, Dee Dee, while playing in a rock & roll band and were married shortly afterwards in 1963. His life line was a notch about a flat line and that's the way he wanted it as it served him well. A heartfelt thank you to those at Angels Grace in Oconomowoc for their support and care, and to all those who had a chance to visit Jim while in hospice. A private memorial and celebration with family and friends will be held in the summer/early fall. Grampa Ircink always said, " 'Ircink' – a good name never dies' " Indeed! Jim's eldest son, Jeff, wrote this poem a couple weeks before Jim's passing. "Glen Mar" is the name Jeff gave the property where he lives in Greendale, and was the name of his father's band, the Glen Le Mar Trio. The chimes in Jeff's yard belonged to his parents and were given to Jeff by his father because they were too loud and disturbed his sleeping."The Chimes at Glen Mar"by Jeffrey James IrcinkMarch 2017 The chimes in the yard once filled with gleewhen winds would blow, I'd turn and seethe chimes, by chance, dance out their notes, enchanting tunes that none had wrote.Because of the chimes. With flashes of glimpses that ebb and flowand me – with memories firmly in tow,a lilt, that timbre, all too sublime,it needn't matter there was no rhyme. They're chimes. Now their tenor is a mournful sort,no happy tunes that come to court –wary, they are, of those in keepingwith he who is present while sleeping. They were his chimes. Dirges sound of one who walkedthese paths quite often and seldom talked, but left a footprint even sohis kin to follow, that they would knowthis place endures, a shimmering star, for 'tis his namesake – they call Glen Mar. Because of the chimes.
