In Loving Memory of James P Van de Casteele
Born on August 29, 1966, in Milwaukee, WI, James returned to our Heavenly Father on March 28, 2026.
Youngest sibling and loved brother of Linda (David) Okruhlica, JoAnne Van de Casteele, Mary (Richard Hebda), David (Carol Van de Casteele), and Beth (John) Stewart. Proud uncle of Maranda (Ryan), Bonnie, Craig, Paul, Michael (Cathy), Jennifer (Garret), Patti (Ron), Angela, Joel (Kim), Tucker (Sofi), Mitchell, and Kallie (Joe). Great Uncle and great-great uncle to twenty-three nieces and nephews, plus more joyously on the way.
James was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Loretta and Cletus Van de Casteele, and his much-loved great niece, Blakely.
James attended grade school at St. Anthony’s in Menomonee Falls and St. Williams in Waukesha. He proudly graduated from Catholic Memorial High School. For the majority of his career, James worked as a Lead ink maker at Quad/Graphics in both Sussex and Lomira. As his health permitted, James worked a variety of positions mostly in the automotive service and parts industry.
James cherished spending time with the family. He very much looked forward to birthday celebrations, holiday gatherings, and especially our family vacations in the north woods of Wisconsin. His fondest memories included camping at Sandy Beach, fishing trips to Canada, putting on fireworks displays for the family in Eagle River & Hayward, and playing cribbage whenever he could. James loved classic hard rock from the 70s and 80s. And he had a soft spot for the family pets – often bringing them special treats when he visited.
James and his family greatly appreciated the care he received from the dedicated staff and caregivers at Froedtert/Community Memorial Hospital (Menomonee Falls). And we are extremely grateful for the tender hospice care James received in his final hours from AccentCare at Lutheran Home (Wauwatosa).
While James endured many health challenges for many years, he faced them with the utmost determination, hope, and humor. We will miss you, dear brother.
