Janice Meyers passed away on October 21, 2023, surrounded by family. Jan loved her family and friends with her whole heart and enjoyed bringing people together. Even in her final moments, Jan was still bringing people together.

Jan is survived by her husband, James Meyers, her children Debra Rokosz and her husband John, Jeff Spoerk and his wife Lucy, Mark Spoerk and his wife Tammy, her grandchildren Nick Spoerk, Kelly Spoerk, Katrina Rokosz and Alex Rokosz, and her beloved brother Jerry Jackson and his wife Gay. She has joined her parents, George and Frances Jackson, and her first husband, Kenneth Spoerk.

Jan was a first grade teacher in West Allis for 26 years. She cared deeply about her students and taught hundreds of children to read, add, subtract, tell time and how to sit still and be quiet. Even after retiring, Jan continued to volunteer to read with children in several elementary schools. She also chaired the scholarship committee for the Lions Club for several years.

Jan's generosity was off the charts. She would give you her coat if she thought you were cold; she'd brave the mosquitos, bees and bears to pick berries and then turn around and give every last one away; and on many occasions she offered up the shoes from her feet (especially her pink crocs). She loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Her happiest place was up north with her family. Jan loved to play cards and board games, anything where there was laughter, good conversation and food. Jan was an exceptional baker, especially cookies and pies. Her mother taught her and shared many recipes.

Jan was committed to her church and community. She was an active member of the Greendale Community Church, volunteering for several board positions and enjoying her many friendships within the congregation. Jan also provided community service through the Greendale Woman's Club and the Lions Club.

Visitation will be held at Greendale Community Church on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. In honor of Jan, we encourage guests to wear pink or purple, her favorite colors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Greendale Community Church.
