Obituary

Jean Calderon

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother

Jean Calderon, a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, known for her love for the Lord and her family, passed away on 8/1/2025 at the age of 90.

Born in 1934, Jean spent her life caring for those around her, always showing kindness to family and strangers alike. She most often demonstrated her love for family through cooking, ensuring everyone was well-fed. Anyone who dropped by for a visit would be urged to eat! Her adult granddaughters have fond memories of baking bread with her and enjoying her creamed eggs, homemade chip dips and almond crescent Christmas cookies.

Jean ensured her three children attended Christian schools even when it stretched her household budget. She sold Avon products door to door in the 1960's while still a full-time homemaker to make "ends meet" during difficult economic times for the family. When her husband could no longer work, Jean re-entered the work force after 30 years away by learning word processing.

Jean faithfully nursed her husband of 56 years, William Calderon, until his death in 2013 and lost her eldest child, William Jr. in 2020. Jean was the eldest of four children and outlived her siblings George, Douglas and Jack (Fenninger).

She is survived by two daughters: Laura Jacobs (Stuart) and Cathy Volkomer. Jean took great joy in her beloved grandchildren from Cathy: Taylor (Joe) Krahn, Alyssa, Brady, and Jordan Volkomer and two great-grandchildren: Wren and Margot Krahn. She cherished her friend, Mary McBeth. Jean mothered all her children's friends but had a special place in her heart for Kerry Lilley, a lifelong friend of Cathy.

A private grave-side service will be held Wednesday, August 6th at Wisconsin Memorial Park where Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband and mother, Cora.

The best way to honor Jean's memory is to get to know Jesus as your Savior and find her in heaven's kitchen to say "Hello" and enjoy a slice of her fresh-baked bread with a huge slab of butter on it.
