Jean E. Monaghan (Hunt) began her long, full life on March 14, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana. She passed away surrounded by family on November 13, 2024.
She spent her childhood in Marcellus, Michigan. Jean met her husband Bill while in business school in South Bend. They married in 1950 and had four children together: Scott, Wendy, Dan and Gary.
After moving from Michigan to Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin in 1971 Jean and Bill joined Trinity United Methodist Church where they remained active throughout their lives.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Ethel and Fred Hunt, her husband Bill, her brother Jack and her grandson Christopher (Kit) Karls.
She is survived by her four children, her son-in-law Andy Karls, her four grandchildren: Dana Karls, Nicole Monaghan, Lindsey Karls and Jennifer Monaghan (fiancé Kyle Deavers), her great-grandson Blake Kinsley, her brother James, sisters Mavis Gagnier and Karen (Gordon) Blush, sister-in-law Linda (Aldo) Martinez, brother-in-law Robert, many nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend Fay Walker (Calbetzor) who introduced Jean to Bill.
Jean worked for years as a teachers aide at both Case High School and Gilmore Junior High School.
The family wants to offer special thanks to the entire staff at The Woods of Caledonia and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care during Jean's final two years with us.
n addition to a private gathering at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where Jean will be buried alongside her husband Bill, the family will be planning a memorial celebration for the spring.
