Jean Lynn Ripple (nee Ballard), beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, at the age of 88.

Born on August 21, 1936, in Erwin, Tennessee, to Bland Eugene Ballard, Jr. and Evelyn Virginia Ballard (nee Boyer).

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Howard, and her daughter, Diane.

She is survived by her children; David Ripple (Sharon), and grandchildren Colton and Taryn. Her daughter, Susan Hayden (Carl), and grandson Gabriel.

Jean was raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, where she attended Dobyns-Bennet High School (Class of 1954). She went on to graduate from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Jean loved children and pursued a career in teaching as a full-time elementary teacher and as a substitute. Her first teaching position was in Cocoa Beach, FL where she met and married Howard Ripple in 1959.

She was a kind and loving mother who made Birthdays and Christmas magical. She was involved in her children's activities (Little League, Scouts). Later in life Jean was also a devoted grandmother, sharing life experiences with her grandchildren throughout their lives as they grew to adults. She was a true educator and loved to read and solve crossword puzzles. A devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Jean was active in her church, Heritage Presbyterian Church. She extended her passion for teaching and working with young people by teaching Sunday School and the Mid-High group. Jean was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church where she served the church in multiple capacities with a passion for service and mission.

Jean's family would like to thank the staff at Kirkland Crossing Assisted Living in Pewaukee for their compassion and the care they showed Jean.
