Jerald "Jerry" S. Fetzer, 82, of West Allis, WI, passed peacefully from this world to his Eternal Home on July
29, 2024 following an unexpected and brief battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Donna (Lovas) Fetzer, his loving daughters, Jill (Chris)
Vanderhoef and Kelly (Glen) Norton, and his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Norton, Leah Norton, Noah
Vanderhoef, and Nathan Vanderhoef. He is also survived by his brother and best friend, George (Stacie)
Fetzer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Jean Fetzer, along with his sister, Gayl Fetzer.
Jerry was born on July 17, 1942 in Kenosha, WI and was the oldest of three children. After graduating St.
Joseph Catholic High School in 1960, he proudly attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA to obtain a degree in
accounting in 1964, and would eventually earn his CPA. After college graduation in 1964, he entered the
military and proudly served as a captain in the US Air Force for 5 years, at locations including Texas,
California, and South Korea.
Following his military service, Jerry moved to Milwaukee, WI where he began his long accounting career and
met his wife, Donna. They were married on November 23, 1974 at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Milwaukee,
WI. Jerry was a long-time member of Mother of Perpetual Help Parish (formerly Mary Queen of Heaven) in
West Allis, WI.
Jerry had an amazing work ethic and was employed by numerous businesses as an accountant and controller,
working full-time until his retirement at age 70. In addition to his full-time work, Jerry taught part-time at MATC
in the accounting department from 1991 until 2024 where he felt strongly that students facing barriers should
be able to access an education. He was also the proud treasurer of the West Allis Knights of Columbus
Council #3095 for many decades.
Jerry was a brilliant man who could calculate just about any equation in his head and multitask between many
different jobs and responsibilities. He was gregarious and welcoming to those around him and truly curious
about others' experiences, which is how he came to develop many friendships. He was a gentle, kind husband
and parent, supporting his wife through all seasons of life and encouraging his daughters to achieve their
goals. Jerry had a great sense of humor, laugh and smile that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Jerry, known as "Grandpa Red" due to his red hair, was a devoted grandfather, and proudly spent countless
hours attending his four grandchildren's sporting events, orchestra lessons and concerts, and serving as a
carpool for not only his grandchildren, but their friends as well. Jerry was a big fan of Wisconsin sports teams,
including the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers, avidly following the teams and attending games with
family when he could. Jerry was an avid golfer, enjoying golfing with his grandsons, Noah and Nathan, and his
brother, George. He had a love of music spanning many decades and genres with his musical interests
crossing generations. He took great care of his health, and enjoyed swimming and long walks in his
neighborhood with his beloved dog, Libby.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Mother of Perpetual Help, 2322 S. 106th St.,
West Allis, WI followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A private burial will occur at the Southern Wisconsin
Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
